Do you already have an estate plan in place? If not, will your wishes be handled the way you want them to be? Are you protected if something causes you to lose the capacity to make decisions on your own behalf? If you do have a plan, how long has it been since you created it? Your needs and the law often change over time. Whether you need to update your estate plan or if you do not have one at all, we can make sure your directions will be carried out and your well-being protected.
What all is involved in an Estate Plan?
Don’t worry. It’s not as complicated as it sounds. To help answer some of the more common questions, give you an idea of the types of estate plans, and help you understand the process, Rob has created an eBook. These are only a few of the estate planning services we offer:
- Last Will and Testament
- Revocable Living Trusts
- Irrevocable Spendthrift Trusts
- A/B Disclaimer Trusts
- Mixed Family Estate Planning
- Advance Directives / Living Wills
- Durable Powers of Attorney
- Health Care Powers of Attorney
- Advanced Mental Health Instructions
- HIPAA Releases
While we offer a wide array of legal services to handle almost any form of estate planning, we try hard not to push people into unnecessary or overly complicated plans. Most people’s situation can be fully addressed with a simple Will, Power of Attorney, Healthcare Power of Attorney, Living Will, Advanced Instructions for Mental Health Treatment, HIPAA Release, and some forms to register things with the NC Secretary of State. We draft all these simple documents for a total of $500. We charge this minimal fee because we want to be sure everyone has this minimal set of documents. For those with peculiar scenarios or those who want to make the estate administration process easier on their heirs, we can help you draft a variety of different types of trust to meet your needs and do so for substantially less than our competition. Estate Planning should not be unnecessarily complicated, expensive, or time consuming and you deserve an attorney who is working for you, not his/her bottom dollar. Give us a call or send us an email so we can help you get this burden off your back and protect you and your family moving forward.
Absent a Healthcare Power of Attorney and a Durable Power of Attorney, should something happen to you, your family may be forced to go through a lengthy and costly incompetency and guardianship proceeding which could result in extensive legal fees. Even if you don’t choose us for your estate planning needs, we hope you will at least utilize this Healthcare Power of Attorney form that is offered for free from the North Carolina Secretary of State. It’s the same form Rob uses because it’s the form that doctors in North Carolina are used to seeing. Just fill it out and swing by the office to sign in front of one of our notaries for free.
